Virgin Mobile - Customer Unsupport!!

I too have had problems with Virgin Mobile.
I have a PAYG phone on their Starter tariff. They've just increased the price of calls to an extortionate 40p a minute. No problem I thought. I'll transfer onto their Simply 8p tariff which is for Virgin Media subscribers of which I'm one.
I phoned the 0845 number supplied which appears to be the only way of transferring over. I then spoke to a woman in what I thought was an Indian call centre but I now know is Philippine. To say her grasp of English was tenuous would be an understatement. I had to repeat everything over and over, letter by letter using the phonetic alphabet. After ten minutes of this frustrating drivel she told me my phone number didn't exist. I told her to forget it and ended the call.
It'll teach me not to be seduced by low prices on locked mobile phones. I'll now have to shell out for a sim free phone where I can pick and choose the best tariff for my needs.
Virgin Mobile are hopeless, incompetent numpties who I wouldn't recommend to anybody.0 -
If you have a handset, you can get it unlocked pretty easily if you check the forums here there is loads of advice on how.
Then you won't need to worry as you can take a sim only contract.
I totally understand the frustration with the call centres. I don't understand what Virgin get out of having these centres? Surely the amount of customers who have left because of them is enough for them to ditch it?x21

Have you tried saying you want to cancel and wish to be put through to retentions? I think they're all brit staff and you can get a straight answer out of them even if you don't have a desire to cancel.0
