I think I have just been conned?
I applied to get my new Driving Licence and thought I was using the DVLA site.
Idiot? Yes! According to this http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigations/2013/05/this-driving-licence-renewal-s.html
Is there any way of getting my money back?
Anyone else done the same?
Good one for Martin to look into?

Have they provided the service you paid for?
If not you can probably claim your money back but if they did what you
paid them for it could be difficult or cost you more to claim it back.
Their website shows their service compared to the DVLA so saying you didnt know it was not the DVLA website would be difficult.
Even says comparison between their service and what you get FREE from the DVLA.
A lesson for the future, There are lots of non genuine sites out there. Bank ones, Shop ones, Manufacturing ones.
Your only get out is if they failed to provide the service you paid for.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I agree - its a very clever money making trick - but a legal one - just like the Post Office's 'checking' of licence and passport applications.
It's a Thatcherism/Opportunism inspired entrepreneurial business.
I don't know what you can do about it - especially as it clearly says on their home page:
We are not affiliated with DVLA, the UK government or any official body. The checking service we provide can be obtained from a DVLA office directly at a reduced fee or you can apply without a checking service where there will be no checking fee payable.
I got there from google too - but I spotted it right away.
The lack of GOV.UK at the top alerted me it's nothing to do with the DVLA.
But of course most folks only need to go there every 10 years or so - and only then if they understand what is written on their licence - section 4b - so they may not be familiar with genuine UK Government web-site pages.0 -
ive been conned too.Things will get better day by day.0

I am normally very careful, but I have been post-poning my driver's licence for ever, so while I was doing something else, I just saw the green colour and the "uk" on the address and got on with it. I did get doubtful at some point, but actually the price of £50 convinced me that I would be paying for the actual driver's license...
After receiving the form at home and realising my mistake, I went to the website and, indeed, people are right when saying they do estate many times that they are not the DVLA.
For that reason, I think it is useless to complain now. But to trick so many careful people (when we are distracted), proves to me that they are not "clear" as some people are saying. The use of similar website design to the DVLA and the price of £50 for a set of forms, is clearly a tactic to delude web searchers and although there are currently no tools that I am aware to deal with the problem, I do think someone a bit more cleaver or informed should do something about it....0 -
