Spanish / English phone help please!!

Hi folks

Can anyone offer advice?

I currently spend half yr in UK and half living in Spain. My set up at the moment is a BT landline when in the uk and a spanish landline when in Spain. I also have a uk mobile which i pay roaming for when away. Obv i pay x2 lots of line rental when i only use each service around 6 months a yr.

Can anyone advise either the cheapest providers / plans they have used for each sepaprete service OR the most cost effective way of receiving and making calls from both locations...

It sounds like you are thinking about Voice Over IP but you need to consider the costs of maintaining a broadband connection in each country which would probably prove more expensive than you are paying now.

My in-laws use Direct Telecom is Spain for calls - which works out considerably cheaper than using Telefonica although you still pay your line rental to Telefonica:

You would also be wise to consider a Spanish SIM card for when you are in Spain as when roaming, you are paying for receiving calls and international rates for making them:

I have heard recently that the EU have ordered the mobile company's to reduce their 'roaming rates'.
If they haven't already done so, it might be worth waiting.

I envy you 6 months there and 6 months here. i bet the 6 months here seems to last longer.
