Receipt for services

First time posting, hope I'm in the right place.
I broke my laptop last week, took it to a local shop that claimed to be able to fix it, was given a price of £85 and a receipt for the same.
Having returned it seems they are having difficulty getting a part, I fear they may charge more now.
Can they do this after issuing a receipt for services.
Just like to know before I go back
Thanks

So have you already paid? Were you given a receipt or an estimate?0 -
What are the "services" you paid for?
When I got my computer repaired recently the "service" was the diagnostic and labour with an up front statement that any parts would be payable on top of it at list price. Thankfully I supplied the parts and so there were no arguments over "list price".0 -
I haven't paid yet, I was given a paper receipt.
The services were to be parts and labour.
Thanks for quick replies0 -
I used to repair laptops, and had a similar issue. Couldn't get a part except for paying around double the cost of the whole job for it - it was available very cheap when quoting for the job.
Gave the customer back the machine in bits when they came in kicking off, and of course refunded their money. They came back the next day and asked me to complete the work at the higher price, unsurprisingly.0
