Overpaid By Employer.

My wife has just been informed by her employer (a local authority) that they have inadvertently overpaid her by paying her for more hours than she actually worked and they have asked her to repay the money.
Can they legally ask for this money back? The amount involved is just under £1600.00

Have they shown their workings? Always get them to provide a breakdown of the alleged overpayment. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0

She can ask to repay in installments, £x per month, rather than in one lump sum.2.22kWp Solar PV system installed Oct 2010, Fronius IG20 Inverter, south facing (-5 deg), 30 degree pitch, no shadingEverything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endMFW #4 OPs: 2018 £866.89, 2019 £1322.33, 2020 £1337.07

mind you, it makes you look very bad when you've had an obvious overpayment and you just kept quiet about it.0

Maths is not my wife's strongest subject. She genuinely did not realise it until it was pointed out to her.0 -

If she agrees she's been overpaid, then either offer the money back as a lump sum, or if this isn't possible, then offer monthly instalments of a reasonable amount.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
