Gas cubic feet to cubic metre calculation error

All the energy suppliers use the same calculation formula to convert cubic feet to cubic metres: 114cuFt x 2.83 = 323cuMt.
Since when has a cubic metre been smaller than a cubic foot?
The correct calculation should be 114cuFt x 0.0283 = 3.2281cuMt.
On this basis all who have cubic feet gas meters are being severely overcharge for the gas we use!

An imperial meter reads in 100s of cubic feet, not single cubic feet.

This meter reads in 100s of ft3. This is because 1 ft3 is a relatively small amount of energy and gas suppliers take 100 ft3 as one unit.

And I bet Frankie really thought he was onto something there...was hoping for a reduction in his next gas bill of 99%.

Each unit on a Metric meter, m3, realises close to 11.2 chargeable Kwh
Each unit on an Imerial meter , ft3, realises close to 31.5 chargeable Kwh
