BT Infinity - worried there are problems with mac?

in Techie Stuff
I have a MacBook Pro, ipad, ancient PC (XP) netbook and OH uses a work PC sometimes. Also Sky HD box.
BT Infinity is supposed to be installed tomorrow and have just been reading the stuff they sent me and the whole set up seems PC based and mac unfriendly.
The tech support in India are apparently clueless about macs.
Neither myself nor OH are techie minded in the slightest. Current ISP mac support is excellent and they've just talked me through setup and any problem resolving. Eg set up mailhost@ pop3 incoming and outgoing server settings, or resolving any outages etc.
My alternative for fibre broadband was Sky. I imagine their router set up works fine with their own HD box and they don't (reading online forums) seem to have tech support dramas with mac users.
We only went with BT for the included BT Sport and out of home free wifi.
Just how annoying or problematic is it being an Apple products user with BT Infinity? (So many people are mac users now that it's odd to read the issues with India tech support). I'm very unlikely to be able to resolve any connection issues myself.
Thanks.

Don't worry, BT 'tech support' are equally clueless about PC's as well. Your Mac connects through the HomeHub just as before, the only difference is that the fibre modem sits between the hub and the NTE5.
If you are already on BT internet then you don't have to set up or change any email settings etc. If you're not, it sets up perfectly easily on a Mac. You can use the CD provided if you don't want to do it manually, though it normally then installs a load off bloatware that you don't need.
Your Sky HD box is not relevant to the set up of broadband. If you'd gone for Sky FTTC (which would have been my choice), then you'd have had the same OR engineer installing the same modem, since Sky FTTC is just a resold BT product. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I had BT infinity and my house is all Apple (apart from the now dead PS3). The BT engineer set up the network with his own kit and i just logged everything onto it no hassle (2 macs, ipad, 2 iphones, Apple TV, ipod touch and PS3).
I got rid of Infinity because of how they limited speeds at times normal humans use the internet. I have now got normal unlimited broadband with sky and it serves us just fine0 -
I'd have gone with Sky (nicer CS by far) but OH wants BT Sport which would be an extra £12 a month.
I resisted Infinity for over a year as I have had such awful experiences with BT. Everything is always your equipment's fault, even when it clearly isn't, and their default position is £130.
Let's hope this time it's different!0 -
Sky FTTC is just a resold BT product.
Nope, it isn't - it's a GEA access product, a bit like LLU. I could get Infinity 6 months before Sky became available at my address as Sky took their time installing the equipment at the exchange.
As far as I know, Sky and TalkTalk are like this (going to their own kit at the exchange via GEA) and everything else is a resold BT product.
I'm going with Plusnet soon as BT messed me around ( online order didn't go through properly and the dreaded Indian call centre knew nothing about the £120 Quidco so I had to cancel).0 -
If you have trouble with your Mac you could always go down the Apple Store and mock the people at the genius bar.
TBBT.That gum you like is coming back in style.0
