Turkey Visa Rip-Off?
Comments
-
Some double standards being spouted here
A Turk visiting the UK - or even in transit - needs a visa that costs a lot more than £10. Many other nationalities don't. Isn't that discrimination on grounds of passport?
In fact the Turks are discriminating in favour of UK passport holders by not matching the fees
well done, very easy to grab the edge of rasism when needed.0 -

I think you'll find it was the OP who first brought racism into it.
Many countries operate a tit-for-tat policy on immigration rules.Of course it is a rip-off! it is a tax levied mainly on British travellers. In my book that's racism - either everyone is charged or nobody.
That was the point Dzug made.
And that is a valid point - unlike the points the OP had made which have been shown to be totally incorrect.0 -
What a laugh! Everyone getting hot under the collar about 'racism' - when it's about fair play.
(1) I am an EU citizen. I should not be charged ANYTHING to enter a member state, yet I'm expected to do so without complaint or comment? The selective and unfair application of this fee to UK passport holders may be acceptable to some, but I'm not one of them
(2) I can however confirm that anyone transiting Turkey IS NOT REQUIRED TO PAY THE VISA FEE, providing they are departing the country by ship. On arrival a Dalmatia airport immigration follow the sign for 'Cruises' and you are not charged the £10 cash (Bank of England notes only) per passport holder. All travellers who DO pay, get a visa stamp - effectively confirming you've paid. When you exit Turkey by air or road it is required you show this stamp. If you do not, you will be asked to pay at the point of departure. Cruise passengers, of course will not have a problem with this.
As the OP - it has been great watching you declaring 'facts' that are totally erroneous - by all means believe what you like, but - the point of the thread remains - you can avoid paying for a Turkish Visa by standing in the correct queue.
Everyone else pays - or votes with their wallet and goes elsewhere.0 -
talking of erroneous facts - where exactly is Dalmatia airport :rotfl:?0

You were the one who brought racism into the thread.
Now, you're backtracking and saying it's about fair play.(1) I am an EU citizen. I should not be charged ANYTHING to enter a member state, yet I'm expected to do so without complaint or comment? Just curious - how long has Turkey been a member of the EU?
About the same time they built Dalmatia airport in Turkey, I'd guess. :rotfl:0 -
What gets my goat is Scottish notes are not accepted, they have to be English ... Now there's racism for ya

See I always come into threads late
lol lol lol 0 -
lol elantan - you have trouble getting shops to accept Scottish £10 notes here in the Midlands too :rotfl:. Last summer I had one guy in a department store in London think my Scottish tenner was a 10 euro note, and he was about to get his calculator out and work out how much it was worth!0

Ha..what a joke. I wouldnt visit Turkey simply on principle. I much prefer Greece. I find the Greek people to be very hospitable and respectful of women and people in general. The Turks need to remember that we can vote with our feet.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
