Hi all you clever techie people out there. Can anyone tell me why all my e-mails on Outlook Express are coming in as blank white pages. The header showing who its from and subject etc is there but just nothing else. This is happening on messages from everywhere, and it started today.
Any idea? Thanks.

Sounds like in your options that something has set itself to download headers only.
In OE click Tools, Options, Read,
make sure "Automaticaly download message when viewing in preview pane" is ticked.
Also check settings here:To change the synchronization settings for a folder in Outlook Express:
Click with the right mouse button on the folder of an IMAP or Hotmail account whose settings you want to change.
Select Synchronization Settings from the menu.
Choose the desired action:
Don't Synchronize if you want no default synchronization at all.
All Messages if you want Outlook Express to download all messages completely.
New Messages Only if Outlook Express should only synchronize unread mail.
Headers Only to download only the message headers automatically.
(You can download the complete message upon request later.)0 -
Thanks for your suggestions, PaulK. I tried them but didn't work unfortunately. My old e-mails that were stored are all blank when you look at them now as well. Also, we cannot get into any docs on Word and when you try to a message comes something about replacing the template 'normal'. However surfing the internet, DD's MSN, etc all working fine.
On Sunday we had a relative over and he downloaded an internet gambling site where he has an account onto our PC (without asking) so he could play. The first blank messages we received date from just about the time he was doing this. Do you think this was a co-incidence or not?
It is infuriating that we cannot see our e-mails. We tried logging on to our ISP website to access them, but for some strange reason the ones we particualy want to read are not there!
We don't want to spend any more on this PC (which is running ME, by the way), as we were about to order a new one, but we need to see our e-mails. We don't want to fall out with the relative, either, but does it sound like it's his fault or not?
Any suggestions, anyone?0 -
For the Word problem, search for normal.dot (include hidden and system files in the search) and delete it. Word will create a new file when you start it again.0
