I have a general idea of what I need to do here, but not sure how to go about it, please bare with me.
I have been ensuring that i pay the minimum payment on my Next account for sometime now, but since my Husband was made redundant i'm struggling now.
This is the only thing on my credit rating, and Experian states due to the age of the debt (6 years) and lack of other credit it can look bad.
So I was hoping a credit card could help with this too, make my report look good as Next debt will be settled and will show credit card being paid, as well as saving me a lot of interest on the Next account & meaning I can pay back the debt quicker.

I'm looking at the Barclaycard Platinum offer, designed for people with limited credit history.
But believe from reading another (old) thread that to do the balance transfer I need to pay off the Next account with another credit card, and then transfer this balance to the 0% interest Barclaycard.
1. Is this correct, I will need to apply for 2 credit cards?
2. Can anyone recommend a card to pay the Next debt with, does it matter if being cleared immediately with the 0% card.
3. What are my chances of being accepted if unemployed at the moment.

Thank you for reading, all advice greatly appreciated as my brain is frazzled at the moment.

It's highly unlikely that you can pay a store card off with a credit card.
If you really can then it's important how this payment is treated on the CC side. If it's treated like a cash advance then you do need two cards. Otherwise it can be one CC with 0% on purchases, not on BT transfers.

And finally, if you can't use a CC to pay Next card off, you need a CC that offers Super transfers

Re the chances, they are very slim IMO.

If you definitely can't use a standard balance transfer card or a 0% purchase card to get rid of the Next balance, then I would say the super transfer card, would be the best here, if you can get one.

They allow you to transfer money into a bank account, with a fee usually around 5% on top, but that then allows you to use the money for anything, because it's in your bank account, or indeed your husbands, if you wish. You normally get 12 months + without any further interest.

Other cards that don't allow money transfers, generally only allow you to do balance transfers from other credit cards. Or other cards, that do allow money transfers, don't have a 0% period, it is charge at the APR rate on the card such as 16.9% or 21.9%.

You can pay a next account with a credit card the payment is treated as a purchase. I have done this many times.
