Drilling porcelain tiles - help

Geez , what a effort it is to drill porcelain tiles . Ive tried all sorts and believe me these tiles are rock hard . Purchased a diamond drill bit from b&q and its only lasted about half a hole . Anyone any ideas where to buy a decent drill bit for this job . Last thing i want is to purchase a £20 and find that i only get one hole . Ive a shower door / towel rad / sink to fit . Looks like a expensive job ...

Piranha or Armeg drill bits should do the job. Best to drill a pilot hole especially with the Piranha drill bit and dont forget to lubricate the drill bits whilst drilling.

I've done the same as you are wanting to do, but we also had a toilet to fix through a tiled floor, and a wallcabinet. I bought a 6mm Armeg drill from Screwfix, it was £20+ and came with dire warnings about using the water cooling attacment, an expensive option, I used my wife with a 99p plant spray set to jet- I drill, water is constantly sprayed and holes get drilled. I drilled 10 6mm holes this way. Don't use the hammer and keep the speed down, heat is the cutting edge destroyer.

The sink and toilet bowl needed bigger holes, I hired a 20mm diamond core drill to use with my SDS+ drill, cut through the tiles in the right places and then drilled the brick with a conventional drill.

Much cheaper than broken tiles. And the result was worth the effort.

i gave up on the drilling option as was scared tiles would break (the test one did). toilet was siliconed to floor. sink was siliconed to wall and sits on a pedastil. went to jewsons and got a no more nails type glue (in a green tube and about £3) it held up the glass shower screen and the shower rail (sealed in the edges with silicone) all seems secure.

But you have to keep them cool all the time by wetting the cutter.
