Hi all,
I would like to know if it is possible to create a charity alone.
If yes, how much it will cost?
Thanks in advance,
Jessica

Have a look at this - it is about registering charities:

Really you would be best to find an existing charity (preferably a registered one) and work with them, following rules on fund-raising.0 -

I have read this pdf from beginning to the end today.
I would like to set up a charitable company in the next six months but at the moment due to lack of income I will need to work with another charity (until I reach the £5000).
However, (since I will be working using another charity at the moment) how can I protect my charity name? I have already bought the domains name for the website (main way I will use for the charity activities), but I am not sure this will be enough.0 -

According to the pdf file provide the requirements for the registration of a charitable company are the followings :
- application form and the trustee declaration
- a copy of the articles of association
- a copy of the certificate of incorporation
- a copy of any special resolution (s) showing amendments of the articles of association after incorporation; and
- evidence of the required level of income, or a copy of a letter or email from us agreeing to consider the application.
What do they mean exactly by 'Trustee declaration'?0 -
In the same file one can read :66. We will not consider an application simply because the trustees think they will have difficulty in attracting funding without a registerd charity number.
There are other ways in which the organisation can establish its credibility. For example, for small charities, HMRC will asses whether tax relief can be given.
An HMRC number will provide the evidence of charitable status.
Alternatively you may wish to set up a named account with an existing charity until you have achieved the required level of income.0 -
I believe one can since you can create a charitable company being alone.
Then your original question was badly worded. As far as I'm aware individuals can't be charities. They need to work through some kind of incorporated body or as an unincorporated association. By definition this means having other people involved .The sticky at the top of this forum states that "as a minimum you need three trustees"

Don't confuse being a charity and registering with the Charities Commissioners. They are two different things. This explains the situation reasonably well - http://www.vawcvs.org/online-advice/register-charity
Getting HMRC to recognise your body as a charity might be more to the point. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/charities/tax/recognition.htm0 -

No. You need 3 trustees.

I'm curious as to how you propose promoting, fundraising, administering and running a charity on your own?0 -

At your link one can read:
So I could set out the minimum of trustee to one in my governing document.Your charity’s governing document should set out the minimum and maximum number of trustees your charity needs to have. If it doesn’t, we recommend your charity should have at least three trustees, usually consisting of:
- chair
- secretary
- treasurer

At the moment, my main focus will be this so. However, HMRC informed me that the process in order to obtain a charity number can take up to 10 weeks.0
