My own survey rather than the Woolwich's?

Hi all - hope someone can help. Have had an offer on a property accepted. It's reasonably old, and will need a either a homebuyers or full building survey.

Question is - will Woolich accept my survey and valuation or will they insist on another survey (meaning I will have to pay for that too)

Thanks.

Charlie

They will always insist on their own valuation.

If you want to do a separate homebuyers or building survey you can do that through their provider or your own.

Be aware, you can probably just pay to 'upgrade' to a homebuyer's report or FBS with the Bank's valuation. If you do your own, you'll be paying for the valuation (if not included in your mortgage deal) AND the full price of the survey.

We have just had a mortgage offer with Woolwich. We used their valuation but found an independent Surveyor. We saved about 500 quid! The (woolich) use eSurv - if you check out eSurvs prices, you will see that Woolwich make A LOT of money if you do it via them.

You can instruct a surveyor to do a full structural survey without a valuation.

You could wait until you have the survey results before paying for the bank valuation.

Yep, I know. Not sure where I said anything different?!

If misinterpreted, I meant you would be paying for the valuation (from the mortgage lender) but sometimes this cost is already paid for/free with whatever mortgage deal you go for, so may not be an additional cost as such. If not included with a deal, you would need to pay for that, and a separate survey with an independent surveyor.

Thanks everybody- will likely get a full inspection carried out before the woolich valuation.
Used really moving.com and can do this for £500. At least this way that is the most we will lose if we decide to walk away.
