No, you have to go through them first. Tell them you are cancelling under Distance Selling Regulations and that they have 30 days to refund you. Also say that you will refuse any deliveries from them. If they don't refund, then contact your card provider.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

If they don't refund, then contact your card provider.

Just make sure if you do that you have a refund receipt.....

No non receipt option once the order is cancelled.

They have an online process to cancel:

You should contact them as soon as possible as if you don't cancel in time you will be liable for return postage costs.

ok, order cancelled and money will be refunded "soon" so maybe 30 days but I have warned my card provider about the situation so if it takes more than a couple of weeks i'll give them another call. made a screeshot of the page saying "as this order has not been delivered we can cancel" so hopefully that will help the situation.

will not be being so silly again!!!

With talk about not wanting to become another victim and wanting to side step them in favour of your bank, I feel you may be overreacting a little bit.

You do need to remember more people will happily go online and post about bad experiences than the number of people that post about their good experiences. Look at RM for example, thousands up on thousands of bad reviews - yet anybody that uses them regularly would agree they really aren't as bad as the reviews make them look!

Their website actually looks quite professional and they have systems in place for cancelling which appear to be much less trouble than many ecommerce websites.

If I was the retailer and a chargeback was initiated in the manner you suggest then i'd be passing on any fees my merchant bank charge to you.
