Back at the begining of the year, you recomended this, to back up my HDD. Asus! has had to go back under warranty, nothing to do with the HDD, but LetMeRepairIt wiped it. I had backed up all my data, but with the above, was able to set the drive back to my usual set up in minutes, so THANK YOU again Closed.

You see, some of us do listen and learn :D:D:D

Well I may have been born a Yorkshire Pudding :D, but after doing the family tree find I am a real mongrel, including a Notts link.

After I had done the above, found I had not got my D partition, but after a swift Google, and going back to my DOS roots, found how to name and format it back into shape.

Not bad for a almost 62 year old, "Old Gal".

it's shocking how little regard so called IT professionals and repair companies have for peoples data, anything for an easy life.

That's why I always tell people to make a backup before giving me their computer.

Then I go on the assumption that they never did a backup ^_~
    I make 2 backups
    1) A bit for bit image of the entire drive (so i can get it back to the exact state that I got it) This is deleted before I give the PC back to the user.
    2) A bit for bit copy of each partition.(so i can mount them on my local system to pull any thing the user forgot to backup) This is deleted 30 days after giving the system back unless otherwise directed.

I tell them I'll keep the No.2 backup (encrypted!) for 30 days so that they can see if they are missing anything important from their own backups.

Easiest and best way to backup, is to buy a single-bay NAS (Network Attached Storage) and install a big Hard Drive (1 or 2 TB) then keep everything in it as a copy, especially if you have a Network of more than one computer.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
