Bay (leaf) Tree

im looking for a bay leaf tree, seen lots on Ebay but not really sure which one you collect the leaves from for cooking.

Can anyone throw some light on this please. I want a tree to plant and collect the leaves in the summer.

The latin name for a bay tree is Laurus Nobilis - get the plain green type , not the yellow leaf variant which is "Laurus Nobilis Aurea".

A bay tree is a bay tree, you can use the leaves from any plain green bay tree.

You can use the leaves all year round fresh from the tree, they don't need to be dried, just pick them off and pop them in your dish.

I have two huge ones in my garden, they have different flavours, one is sweeter than the other but are both equally as nice depending on what I want them for.

But be warned, before you plant it, they grow to a huge size and need pruning right back, mine are over 20ft tall and 6ft wide.
