Ebay no code games

on ebay my son made me buy call of duty black ops .It said "No Code"
“Does not include Steam code. Includes everything else (case, discs & leaflet information) un opened "
The "No Code" was not highlighted.I am new to all this and now belatedly discover people are saying this is just a coaster.

"Quote:
Do not buy from Ebay. Not with PC games at least. Console games are okay but PC games require a legit cd key to be online/online play.
Pretty much this. If the CD key was already used then you're just buying a coaster, as the disc will be quite literally useless."

I thought that the game could be played offline as well but installation wants the code .
Some even claim that ebay actually ban sale of these no code games ?
Anyone clarify?

"i just tried last night to sell my retail discs of black ops and modern warfare 2 on ebay for $45 dollars .. but the listing was removed.
the message said that ebay doesnt allow people to sell accounts.
that made me angry because i wasnt selling my steam account.. i was selling my modern warefare 2 cd's and black ops dvd in their retail packaging.
the steam account simply comes with it".

I have sold several secondhand PC games on Ebay but always sell the associated Steam account with them and not had any problems.

I always create a new Steam account for each game so I can then give the account away with the game, without giving away any personal details.

If buying I will always check that a code or account comes with the game as otherwise the game is useless.

A number of console games come with codes for online play now (online passes), but with these you can buy the codes by themselves if you wish to play online and the codes that came with the game have already been used. Just thought I'd add that for future reference in case you buy any console games.

Ebay state you shouldn't sell digital items which would include games and codes if they are download/digital only. Selling a Steam account would come under this rule. So if the system is picking up on certain words or people are reporting the listing a game which is stating it has these codes or doesn't have them could be removed as it could be seen as digital only content. I can't clarify they are banning all listings of no code games though.

I believe it is free to join Steam and create an account. However, to buy an account the cost would vary depending on what's on the account.

I don't use Steam myself so perhaps someone on here can provide more information on that.

I have used Steam for years, and the best way I can think of describing it to someone who doesn't know much about it is to think of it as being similar to iTunes. Your account is empty until you buy the games to go into your library, by either buying direct from Steam and downloading the game digitally or by buying a physical copy of the game that comes with a Steam code.

A Steam account is entirely free to create.

I would not recommend buying a Steam account for the games that are on it:

    "Buying, Selling, or Trading Accounts.
Accounts which have been bought, sold or traded will be suspended. This includes any other accounts in your possession at the time of the sale or trade, regardless of whether those accounts were also sold or not."

With regards to playing the game offline, it looks as though only certain parts of the game are available for offline play and this is through editing the config file (a search on Google helped me on this as I've never played CoD myself)

Anyway, I hope that helped a little :)
