I've has a Sony ereader for a few years. I like the fact that I can buy a cd with books on it and put them onto the Sony via Calibre. Does the Kindle or Kobo allow you to do this
Advice appreciated.

The Kindle is locked to it's own proprietary file format, which is .AZW or .MOBI.
Kobo and Sony uses ePub, as does everything else.
Calibre can often convert to get around this, but it depends on the DRM used by the publisher. Non-copyright ebooks should be no problem.
But why buy the books on CD when you can buy them directly as ebook files? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi macman
I bought a cd for 5.99 with several hundred books on it. Most of them were books that I would have bought if I hadn't got the ereader.
Thanks for replying. It would seem that the Kobo might be my next ereader.0 -
Sounds like you have bought pirated copies then?No free lunch, and no free laptop

I'll keep the Sony until it gives out.
The cd was bought from Ebay.
Thanks for the replies.0
