windows update .... "checking for updates" ....

in Techie Stuff
but just does that ?? !!
on the windows update page .. clicked check for updates ... it has the moving bar and says " checking for updates" .. but just keeps doing that ?
Underneath says " most recent checks " .... "never" ..
which isn't true .
baffled
any ideas ?

Try a reset of windows update components e.g.

You can try removing the .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (KB982670) via Control Panel > Programs to see if it helps. You'll need to re-boot after it removal.0
