Any way please to get bird pooh stains off our car ?

Stuck our car in an airport car park for a 10-day break.

Got back from holiday to find some bird pooh on the car. Took it off asap but the car has become slightly discoloured after acting with acidity in the bird pooh.

Is there anyting we can do to restore the colour ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    How old is the car?

I ask as this is usually only a problem with very new cars.

It is likely that the "alkaline" droppings have attacked the lacquer of the paint rather that the base colour coat, buffing out normally cures this, but simple T cut treatment may diy the job for a £5r.;)

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

  • Thanks. Car is approx 8 years old.

Thanks. Car is approx 8 years old.

At that age the paint and lacquer is normally pretty much bomb, "bird", proof

TEE cut it, rubbing compound at worst, (does take a lot off), if you can'r flat and shine it then it really is respray or live with it time.

Equation = 8 year old car needed paint versus residual value of said car, with or without paint.

Typical 8 year old car = £2k, paint job £250 min, your choice to be honest;);)

It isn't a dig. it's the fascts presented directly as I hope you understand.;);)

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Those birds are a menace sometimes. But...
Either that's some birds you've got or the car paint protection that most people scuff at actually works (like Supagard). I've had multiple cars, all not new, but all treated with one or other paint protectors, for anywhere between 3 to 7 years, and not once that happened to me. I even got into the habit of not worrying about it and washing it off when I get a chance not right away...
  • there is also clay balm i think its called what the pros use to get all the grime out of paint its used for car buffs to detail there cars
if you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction

Bird poo has always caused damage to car paint unless washed off quickly due to its alkaline nature. Many cars have little value at 8 years, and many city cars are only designed to last that long. You will probably get the best advice from a car forum such as Honest John.
