 I have shopped at currys store many times and have a collection of recepts.
After one of the products broke i tryed to find the recept. I had no chance as everyone of my recepts had lost all trace of ink on them!!!!!!
I know they not that old! I have many other recepts that are years older that are perfect. I think currys is pulling a fast one!!!
Anyone else had same prob???

Not with Curries. My receipts from them are OK but all my Homebase receipts have a fading problem. I normally write the product name, the price and date on the back of them anyway because sometimes it's not so obvious what the product was a few months later from the terse description they sometimes give.0

Most receipts these days are printed on thermal paper (like fax machines used to use). It's cheaper as it means no ink cartridge in the printer to keep replacing, and they print really quickly. However, if they're stored in too hot or too cold a place they will fade quickly. If you buy something with a thermal receipt that you'll have to keep for a while you're best off photocopying the receipt so you have proof, just in case the receipt fades.0

As PBA says, this is due to the Thermal Print method used.
However, you can SOMETIMES "recover" them with one of these two methods :-
A) ... View them under an Ultra-Violet lamp (Sunbed or Fake Money detector)... Scan the original into a PC, and then try applying various different filters to the scanned image, which will often make the text visible again.
Hope this helps
Cheers

This is true - they have a system where they can search with your post code and house number. If the system is the same, then they will also have copies of your reciepts from pc world, the link and dixons.0 -
I too have had the problem of the invisible Curry's receipts, luckily long after the product has passed its warranty period!

Drat!!!!! I didnt know that, I bought a microwave last year, and like always I file the receipts, guarentees etc.
I hunted high and low for my receipt but couldnt find, as my microwave blew up and it cost over £100, mentioned to hubby I cant find it and thought no more of it.
I came in from work the other day, and he had gone out and bought another one, and taken the old one to the dump, but in the meantime, I was looking for something else, and yes, you guessed it, I came across the receipt.
I had a whole 7 days till it expired, no good now, as hubby had already dumped the other one.:eek:0 -
