Just come back from Caernarfon. There is a brilliant Country Park in Llanberis, the village at the foot of Snowdon. It's free to park, the Slate Museum is in the park and free and well worth a visit. There's a few specialist shops tho on the expensive side. There are lake cruises and a small gauge steam railway (recommended). They also do watersports, treetop activities etc tho I guess you have to book and I've no idea how much. if you search for Padarn Country Park you'll find it. The walks are lovely, great for picnics and in spectacular scenery. It can be as expensive or as cheap as you choose.

Would Greenwood Forest Park have anything that would keep he 3 teenagers interested? They are going to be the toughest ones to entertain! We cant go to Electric mountain because under 4's cannot go in. The Snowdonia Mountain railway is out of our budget really.

Is there anything else we could do at Snowdonia? or a good way to see Snowdon?

Thanks for all the help :)

My 11 year old daughter went to Greenwood on a school trip yesterday and had a great time. But going by the brochure she brought home I'd say it's probably more for the 6-13 age group (although I think it's intended to be for all ages).

The only way I can think of to really see Snowdon other than the train or walking would be to take a pleasure flight from Caernarfon airport, although not suprisingly that's a lot more expensive than the train.

One other thing you could try would be the Llanberis Lake Railway. Llanberis is the town at the foot of Snowdon so you'd at least get to see Snowdon plus the local scenary. It's worth visiting Llanberis just to travel along the Llanberis Pass, which is one of the most scenic drives you'll ever take. Maybe combine this with stops at Betws-y-Coed and then Beddgelert on the way back and you'll see plenty of what Snowdonia has to offer.
The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us
Baby we were born to walk

your older 3 will be bored at greenwood your 9yo will love it. Red line karting or glasfryn park will suit the kid esp the older ones . 6month will do anything . Padarn Lake is always a winner and Llanberis electric mountain. Dinas Dinlle is a decent beach close by. Caernarfon is a town worth a half day . Betsw-y-coed & Beddgelert too.Llandudno is poss the best to suit you all. Glan Gwna has a decent pool with wifi (free) in the poolside bar. space will be tight in the lodge for your lot. (have you been before) some 2 beds and some 3 beds. Snowdon with a pram is very difficult although ive done it a few times with a wheelchair. Entertainment at the bar is ok with bingos and singers etc . Pool party on august the 4th pirates and sailors.Maybe worth joining their facebook at glan gwna holiday park .
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
We stayed in Porthmadog or pork haddock as my 5year old likes to call it last year. The path up snowdon was not as fearce as we expected and the views from the top are so much better when you have earned them.
The welsh highland railway is expensive though kids go free and the views are spectacular. Bewts-y-coed is well worth a visit as is the near by waterfall

Parc Glynllifon is just down the road from Caernarfon (close to Dinas Dinlle where there's a long beach)
There is a cafe and small play area at Glynllifon which can be used without paying to go into the grounds. Not sure what the cafe is like anymore but it used to be nice.

Another vote for Ty Coch, but beware the long walk to it. It'd be easier for you to go over the golf course rather than take the beach path as there's a tricky bit to cross if you've got a pram. The golf course is a flat walk. The food at the pub is v. expensive btw, best to take a picnic and eat on the beach.
