This was a disappointment - I joined the long, snaking queue at 7.15. At that point, the queue was growing rapidly. A friend counted forward to see how many were in front of us, as at that point we were already concerned about the size of the queue. He estimated there were 400 ahead of us. At 7.40, we were told that the promotion was over, and that we had to leave immediately beacuse the station managers were closing down the event. We were not given forms - we were simply told to come back at 10.30 when the promotion would start again. I went into M&S to get some breakfast, and when I came out I noticed people were still in the queue. I spoke to a member of the promotions team - and at that point he said the decison had been made to give out forms which people could redeem later. There was a crush around the stand - when I asked for a form, he said he would be unable to give me one as I was not in the queue. Fair enough, except I had been in the queue, and had been told to leave. I would have qualified for the brush had I been allowed to stay. At one point I heard the promo staff say to someone 'this is totally out of hand'.

Certainly, the staff seemed panicked, and were giving out very mixed messages. The promo staff seemed suprised it was so busy - yet Colgate advertised on the front page of the evening standard yesterday! Shambolic.

In fact, there would have been no problem if they had just handed out those toothbrushes without requesting people to fill out their market research forms... There wouldn't have been such a large queue then.

Actually, they should have been giving people the forms to fill out as they were in the queue. When you reach the front, you hand over your form, you get your toothbrush, no drama.

Come to Brent Cross, do it in BOOTS, where it belongs.
Loads of free parking. Do it during off peak hours, like 10am to 4pm.

It sounds like I need to queue from 06:00 to make sure I get one,
but I can't get there by tube that early.

do you know what dates are for Boots giveaway, please?
  • I got a toothbrush! Thank goodness I was there at 6:30!

Actually, I think I have a dead Braun that I haven't thrown away because I haven't worked out how to remove the battery for recycling.

I assume they are not going to check that it still works?
Also, do they want the old charger?

    So, tomorrow 06:00, bring:

    1. electric tooth brush
    2. pen to fill out form (and to stab people in self-defense)
    3. body armour and goggle (in case other people stab me with a pen)
    4. gas mask, in case of mob disbursal police.

    See you at Waterloo.

    according to the Evening Standard:
A spokesman for Network Rail said: “Waterloo often holds promotional events but the demand for the Colgate stand exceeded everyone’s expectations.
“To accommodate passengers and those wanting to take advantage of the offer, we are working with Colgate to try and rearrange the promotion to take place on another day outside of peak times.

although they did have some incorrect info in their article.
