Insurance - Does the sun make British drivers crazy?

lol. iunsurance is typically for 12 month periods. So it covers all seasons anyway. So it shouldn't matter what time you take out the policy (all other things being equal).
NB. business can be a factor. I reckon a lot of 17 year olds (and young people) buy their first car in warmer weather. So season can affect demand a little.
Either way, it shouldn't affect your decision because the difference would be tiny.0 -

They don't need to, the risk of Strider having a claim to an insurer is in effect the same to the Insurer throughout the year so they quote a price for twelve months.
If you take out that policy in December the Insurer will still have to cover you for the summer months. If you take cover out in a summer month they would still need to cover you in December.0 -
As a rule of thumb I find that if you can see a copy of The Sun on the dashboard you can expect inconsiderate driving and probably bad parking too.
(Yes I know this isn't what you meant, but I couldn't resist, sorry)0 -
He will have done it because you will block is view on the left making it more difficult for him to turn right or go straight on.
I am entirely with Hintza on this one.
I find it incredibly arrogant and unthinking when drivers pull to the right, or left, of me when I am at a junction, thus entirely blocking MY view of the major road.
This delays ME even further as I will not proceed unless I can see clearly.
Usually I find it is either testosterone-fuelled boy racers, or arrogant young females in large bulky bricks of cars, who cannot give a tinker's damn about how they affect other road users.
I am somewhat dismayed to find the OP falls into those categories, especially given the OP's usual sense of righteous driving....with the odd IAM mention thrown in for good measure?
So, y'all, next time you wanna do that, just spare a tiny weeny thought for the other driver's needs first?
Of course, if..having done that, all you want to do is stick up two fingers, then so be it.
But don't bleat when someone of my bent [and skills] comes along to lunch your no claims discount.
Consideration for other road users doesn't fit with 'selfish', does it?No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
one thing i have noticed since the sun came out, and thats an increase in traffic, especially during rush hour
i always assumed that there would be less cars in rush hour in the summer due to the better weather, but it seems to be the opposite.
Right now I'm struggling to cope in the current heat. The house is, thankfully, mostly cool but outside... bloody hell.
Give me my air conditioned metal box on wheels to get to places.0 -

You know what? Yes it's annoying under certain circumstances, it's not quite blow your top annoying though.
As I explained, the road this leads onto has a large middle lane for drivers turning, being up on the left does not in ANY way hinder the driver to the right..... Especially when I drive a car with a front end as low as mine.....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I do occassionally block a drivers view intentionally, normally when they are turning right and could have been closer to the centre line allowing me to make my left turn earlier.0

It is easy to presume what you can see, they can see.
Which is rarely the case.
When I wish to do as you did, I position my vehicle slightly back from what I expect to be the other driver's line-of-sight.....yet still where I can see what I need to see.
Not that they notice my little courtesy!
The bonnet ain't the issue..it's what lurks behind the bonnet?
Literally, an inch can make all the difference when trying to look.
Then of course, there's the view-blocking effect of your car as you move off?
I have those exact issues when dealing with the slightly acute junction leaving my-place-of-work.
I turn right, usually.
It's a STOP line, so the view to the left is slightly difficult.
And higgerant boogers just squeeze past my left side, making my 'go' into a 'no-go', which is bl@@dy annoying!
So, I return the compliment, by being very slap-dash with my road position at the junction, stopping slightly back from the line sometimes.....and they've even driven up over the curb to get around me!
OH well, maybe they've lunched their alloys doing so?No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
