It all sounds iffy The explanation, given here and possibly in future to the DWP just doesn't make sense. There is no need for grandfather's money to be funnelled through OP's account.
I also have an elderly relative who puts lump sums into my account with instructions to share it out. I can see the point as it saves them faffing about with umpteen different bank details.0
