in Credit cards
Hi all
I have posted this question on the reclaim your bank charges board and also on Abbey board within that, but no response. I am reclaiming credit card charges on a former Abbey credit card which I haven't used for three years but paid over £500 in charges at the time. I have got to the stage of receiving statements from Abbey and asking for the charges back, but then they have written and said the card was with MBNA and I should reclaim from them! I find it a bit strange, as Abbey did provide me with the statements. I had no idea it was an MBNA card, or perhaps forgot as it was a while ago.
My question is, do I now have to wait for MBNA to contact me, as Abbey have claimed I do?
I just wondered if anyone else from experience has gone through this.
Many thanks

MBNA manage the Abbey credit card so you may need to write to the data controller at abbey card (inside MBNA). Or send the same letter to MBNA that you sent to Abbey and copy the letter from abbey in the same letter? Does this make sense
MBNA are behind at the moment in these requests, but all I can say is that they are responding to letters with an offer of settlement. This is normally NOT the full amount that you are requesting back though.Man who stands on toilet is high on pot. - Old chinese proverb.0 -
The old style Abbey credit cards were issued by MBNA, using the Abbey brand. All your dealings with the card have been through MBNA, it was them who provided you with the statements (it was an Abbey logo on them, but sent from MBNA) so it is them who you need to deal with for any issues with the card.0

Thanks - Abbey say they have passed the letter on but I will put a copy in the post to MBNA just in case.0
