I have Vista. When I am on the internet (not wireless) and 'X' the IE window just before disconnection, a small window comes up with the warning...

Internet explorer has stopped working.........internet explorer is restarting.

It then opens another IE window. I then X and it allows me to disconnect. Cannot find anything on the Vista help-page, anyone got any ideas.

I use both IE and Firefox on Vista and have never seen this. Have you run all the usual things to make sure you haven't got anything nasty in there?

If anything on my Vista (business edition) stops a window pops up and tells me that it will find out what the problem is. Only happened a couple of times.

It seems to come up when i am trying to disconnect from the internet. I x out of the IE page and the window pops up with the warning. It has tried to sort out the problem, but just says, there is no solution at this time. I have noticed that the two little screen displays (on the bottom toolbar) showing me on the internet, have also disappeared. How do I put those back on?

If I understand correctly when you close IE you actually close your internet connection as well?

Do you connect directly to the internet from that pc?

I am connected through a router but am trying to remember how you stay online, with a direct set-up.

It certainly should be an option not to leave the internet when you shut IE

When I close IE, then the 'do you want to disconnect' box comes up. Before I click anything, the error box comes up behind it. I have been sorting out the 'add-on's' as I suspect it could be do to with that. I still cannot sort out where my two little screens have gone showing me that I am connected!

    Start>settings>Network connections

Find yours, there may be only one, right click on it and there should be a little box which says "show icon in notification area when connected" tick this.

This is for XP, don't know about others, but will have a look on my Vista machine later
