MET Parking 'notice' Mcdonalds again

Hi All
I received a parking notice from MET after overstaying in a Mcdonalds car park (I was well over the limit - I ate there and got on with some admin on the laptop and didn't even notice the parking restrictions). It was dated end of May but my car is registered in my dad's name and he only just received the notice due to being out of the country for a couple of months. So the 'final notice' has just landed with him now.
Clearly I am not paying this company £100 but what is my best course of action now seeing that I haven't responded quickly to the initial notice ? I also don't want my Dad to get upset with a MET bombardment of 'scary' demands
Doing my research , I get the impression that simply ignoring it perhaps isn't the clear cut best option that it might have been pre-October 2012 ?
I would post scans of the letters but as a new user I'm not permitted
Thanks

I'm fairly certain the letters will be identical to the others posted on here, so why don't you have a look at them and confirm it.0

Dad needs to contact PPC, tell them he was out of country (best if he could supply proof) and get him to tell them it was you.
That will start process over and get you a chance at POPLA.0 -

Yes, identical to what I have seen on here .0 -

G.D., why on earth would the RK need to prove he was out of the country?Je suis Charlie.0

So... Ignore it then ?
Will they eventually call my dad ? I could see him crumbling , paying the fine and buying a time share of them0 -

To stop them trying to dispute that the driver isout of time for POPLA and that the RK has a reason for not replying in time.

My way of fighting something is akin to Monty's. Get the odds on your side and as much as you can. In this context, shows that you have a reasonable excuse.
Others prefer Patton's blood n' guts approach.0 -

Yes but the registered keeper has to write that letter, the driver must not respond until they then get sent a Notice to Driver. This option is only worth doing if the original fake PCN was a postal one which I assume it was, because it could be argued that the driver has never seen any 'ticket' yet...PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

You don't need to give these people excuses, they're not blooming schoolteachers wanting to know why you were late for class! It shows weakness.
The only way the driver could be out of time for POPLA is if legal action has started, which it hasn't. The reasons for the RK not responding are irrelevant and none of their business.Je suis Charlie.0
