Can someone please advise on the best course of action regarding an unfair parking charge from UKPC. £100 for parking in a free retail car park with the reason "Vehicle owner/driver left site" Should I respond at all and if so, how? Thanks.

Just going to hit the hay now, so I'll just leave you with a bit of reading - a case just like yours, serious but amusing. Note - toothbrush = prison - don't panic at that, just enjoy the read.
VCS -v- IbbotsonPlease note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Same as you will see on other threads, any thread really, including those not about UKPC.
DO NOT RESPOND TO UKPC YET IF THIS WAS A WINDSCREEN TICKET, YOU MUST ONLY RESPOND AS THE REGISTERED KEEPER, WHEN YOU GET THE FIRST LETTER IN THE POST IN A MONTH OR SO (IF YOU HAVE HAD NO LETTER YET).
Look at the first page of the forum, any thread, all talking about how to appeal and win (a 2 stage appeal assuming this was in England/Wales).
Here's an example of a similar thread now at the second stage of appeal called POPLA:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4595815
Follow that example and read other threads too.
When you get your Notice to Keeper in the post, and ONLY then, your first challenge can be quite short but is NOT about what happened except to say (without implying who was driving!) 'if a driver is seen leaving a site then under contract law a parking attendant would be required to mitigate any alleged loss as in the case of VCS v Ibbotson, not simply watch a driver leave then pounce and slap a ticket on a car for UKPC's own revenue.'
Make sure your challenge is not sent until you get the first POSTAL Notice to Keeper.
In the meantime complain right NOW to the retailer on sire about this scam and see if the Store Manager will cancel it (if you were a genuine customer with receipts).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
