    Morning Jeffrey & CW

Must be something abt this time of year jeff we have been sorting our loft over last few weekends took loads of old clothes to charity shop and duvet sets etc gave some old blankets to the local vets as they always need them gave stuff away or listed on eBay a few bits and loft looks much better apart from the masses of toys and Xmas pressies up there at the mo ;)

CW well done starting Xmas cards I dug mine out at weekend have had kids cards stored since jan sales (they need abt 40 each !!!) they each picked really nice ones when they all went cheap. And I got lovely free ones from whsmiths on the O2 app. Also bought a set of metallic pens ready as love writing cards in gold/silver etc :)

PM how's you kitten doing ? They usually get very lively again after just a couple of days so hope she is feeling better

Sorry didn't reply Kerri not been on all weekend. I wasted money on an icing set and don't use it the little plastic nozzles are rubbish tbh all I ever use now is disposable piping bags (very cheap on eBay) and a Wilton 2d nozzle (think its called a drop flower nozzle) they are about £3 and are a large metal nozzle can buy them in lakelands or on eBay Wilton is very good make its what all the you tubers I watched recommended. Then once got the nozzle I just watched a few vids on YouTube and copied them :). Re the right amount of mix I just put about a heaped dessert spoon full so case about half full don't really even think about it now you just do on auto after while. But to give you and idea an 8 oz mix should do about 18-20 good sized cup cakes
    Hth

Thanks, I'll have a look. Was deff going to get the disposable piping bags. The set I was looking at was the tala one, ok, it's the tin t really like lol. I'd like one of the nozzles that pipes icing to look like grass too.

I did fill my cases about 1/2 full but there was nowhere near enough mix in them, do you use cupcake cases or muffin ones?

Sorry for all the questions, your cakes always look so amazing :D

Xmas is in 3 weeks and I keep telling myself to get organised, but it doesn;t happen.

Your children send 40 cards, wow, that'll keep em quiet while they write them.:rotfl:

  • Good morning everyone:)

Talking Christmas cards remember DS2 one year diligently writing out all his Christmas cards for his friends abt 30 in his class + teachers he liked, putting them all nicely in the envelopes then sealing them said " very nice son but how are you going to know who's card is who's" lol he had forgotten to write the names on out side of envelope. Aw bless gave us a good laugh at his expense lol

I buy the tala piping bags sometimes (£3 ish a box) but the nozzles are quite small and I found the big metal nozzles just seem to pipe smoother and easier. I don't have one that does the grass effect but they do look fun :)

Cupcake and muffin cases are near enough the same size I use a mix of both and sometimes the small bun cases too. A spoon full of mix should rise to about half a cm or so just below the top of the case and don't cook to hot or quick as they will rise in the middle too much you want them nice an flat just slightly rounded on top. I using a machine to mix use self raising flour and add a flat teaspoon of baking powder too so you get enough rise. I'm going to have a play at some reindeer ones next week so need to get red sweets and curly wurlys ;) I I remember I will take a pic of the mix in the case before and after cooking so you can see

    Morning all

Sun is actually out today although still chilly am trying to have a week of no spending and driving about so trying to keep busy at home going to try and fill a box of old toys for charity shop today while kids not here (hey take stuff back out of the box lol). And got to find somewhere to stash the huge boxes in my lounge at the mo hubby got me a kmix for Xmas and the boxes are massive !!! He says anything that means more cakes in the house is money well spent lol. Also may start wrapping a few little bits as otherwise will be sat for hrs and I rather do a little here and there while kids at school

    Right cuppa time

Good morning, just :D:D I went to the GFS last week, just sorting everything out at home from after it. It wasn't great, missed my pal mad :(:( Coupons were rubbish in the coupon books which is a shame as they were piles of them and was told to help myself but didn't get many as thought it was silly getting them when they would just go in the recycle. I was hoping for a free just milk coupon but that was only 50p off, guess even they are cutting down now. I think their sales will be down this year as the only time I have bought it and sure same for others is when there was a free coupon. The samples were not very good either, cheese samples were very small and you had to virtually beg for drinks samples. I understand them cutting down but if they are cutting down on stuff they should also cut down the expense. Parking was £10 and the tickets were about £25, luckily I used clubcard for mine, but won't be bothering going again.
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)
