Inaccurate default ?

Quick question guys

I've got a thread on CAG which is closely related.

What I would like to know is if a default appears on your file and its a wrong amount outstanding do I have a case to argue not kept up to date or accurate etc. to get it removed?

Default was for 754 but I believe I have proof from a SAR showing outstanding 639. From a utility company. So where would I stand with arguing this.

They need to be able to justify the amount owed at the time of default.

If they cannot justify the amount showing as the defaulted amount then they should change it to reflect what was owed.

That wouldn't lead to removal, only amendment, as Tixy said.

If inaccurate data is recorded then it need only be corrected, not removed entirely. It's like if my bank had my address as no. 9 instead of no. 8, they would simply change the number rather than remove the entire address.

it is possible to have default removed, but its very hard, and you practically have to depend on the lender being unorganised with their files and stuff, as they have to be able to tell you and show you why you recieved a default, its very rare that youll get a default removed because the company cant physically show you why you got it - which is their fault for not being organised - BUT, it is possible, ive heard 3 different people tell of how they had a default removed because they asked for all details of the account with the lender and they couldnt provide them

Yep, I got a Three default removed from my OH's credit file years ago because of this very reason.

Post BR I had a few defaults removed altogether too despite having only written to them asking that they update my credit file showing the correct default and settlement dates :o

If it does happen however it's only likely to be sheer luck.
