you doubt that £48 a week is enough for the soms share of the expenses?
yet in previous threads you have said that a singleton living alone should be able to cover ALL expenses on £53 a week .... and that you in fact, could do it?
make your mind up!
I don't know why you see the two points as different. Paying your own way should be the same in a flatshare as living at home so paying £46 for food and utilities will be the same in both places, leaving a tenner over for additional expenses/pocket money.
Not a lot spare, I'll agree, but perfectly doable.

The reason I expressed doubt in my earlier post was because many family homes would have extras like a landline and insurance to contribute towards, which is often not the case in shared accommodation.0 -

Im not sure how £10 a week covers additional expenses and pocket money.
My son is out of work and has to pay £24 a week for a bus saver ticket which takes him to the job centre and interviews etc. his car had to be taken off the road as there is no way he can afford to run it. Without this he would have to pay the daily rate which just to the nearest job centre cost him £6 a day.0 -
Out of the £250 he currently provides, how much goes towards his contribution of bills that only pays for his keep and how much is it contribution towards rent/mortgage?
If you need that amount to help pay for your housing, then it is time to reassess your situation. You can't rely on your children to allow you to keep your home. What would happen if he was offered a job 100 miles away and he needed to move there?
If the £250 is purely towards his additional costs to the household, then he needs to reconsider how much electricity/food etc... he uses and accept that these will have to reduce until he finds another job.0
