Disassociation of family member?

My son has always wanted to be a police officer since he was young, he is now starting his last year in college on his public service course,
He has recently applied for a ride along with the police, and has been told there is a possibility he will be refused as his absent father has a record,
This is very unfair as me and his dad have been separated for 11 years, I have been married to his step dad for 2 years and been in a relationship with him for 8 years,
He has also been told there could be a possibility he would not beable to become a police officer/ prison officer,
My husband said there is a firm for disassociation, does any one know about this for, and wether it is sufficient for my son to fill out,
My children have not seen there father in over 9 years.

My nephew had a problem very similar. He was refused entry to the police due to a background check on his absent father. He ended up having to appeal against it (it took a year). He is now a police officer and loves it.
Good luck:A0 -
as said - you can appeal if turned down - and it sounds as if you have enough evidence that son has no contact. I can understand why the police have this rule - they have enough bad apples without allowing members of known criminal families to enter the force! oh dear - that sounds awful - but you know what I mean! that is why there is an appeal process.0

My ex was accepted despite his absent Dad having a record for fairly serious offences so it's always worth applying. Just make sure he is up front about the family history and definitely do not try to hide it.0

He will still apply, its just disheartening what he was told today, I feel so angry his dad could ruin his caarer pathDont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec0
