How many months before my credit score improves?

I just got my first credit card, I am going to pay it in full every month.

How long will it take to see a positive effect on my score?

Do you mean one of the scores that are provided by Experian/Equifax/Noddle? If so, don't worry about those, they don't mean anything.

As far as I know most lenders won't pay much attention to 'new' accounts. If you've had them for about 6 months to a year, they should start to have a positive effect on your ability to get credit.

That said, I've had a credit card for 3 months and I've just been accepted for another card that I was previously declined for. I can't be sure if the credit card is the sole reason why I was accepted.
    What will your verse be?

Yeah, in order to build a track record you need good data to be reported consistently. So 6 months minimum is a sensible time to wait so that lenders can see how you have managed your new account.

I'd consider applying for another card after 10 months so that even more positive data is reported.
