Spuds (again) earthing up question
I've got second earlies growing in sacks and they were doing fine, they were growing fairly slowly and I earthed them up a couple of times. The bag is about 50% full now. Then I went on holiday for 2 weeks and now I am back the plants have gone crazy. They are well over a foot tall and very bushy. Can I still earth them up now, even though the plants are big, or has the moment passed?
When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.

Hi, i have never planted spud in sacks before, however i am sure that if you earth them again now, it wouldn't do any harm, better to earth up than not at all, i think.20p savers club

Yep, earth them up right to the top of the bag, so that a few inches of stem and leaves show.
I can't put any more earth into my container, so instead, I've laid some black mulching fabric around the plants, now. It lets water through, but blocks out the light - so the tubers can remain in complete darkness.
Go for it!
