Santander Debit MasterCard

Hi guys,
I sent a message to Santander as I had a problem with my debit card (When paying off a bill) and when I got a message back, it said There is currently no problem with your Visa Debit or Debit MasterCard. It worked when I tried again later but the fact he mentioned Debit MasterCard.
Have any Santander staff on this board heard about Santander switching to Debit MasterCard? Would be interesting to hear as in a recent interview someone from MasterCard UK said they were launching a reward Debit Card and were talks with a big UK bank.
Also in one of the recent terms and condition changes it mentions contactless cards and I know MasterCard is slowly mandating that all Debit MasterCards must be contactless (Unless requested otherwise by the customer).

Could have been a Freudian slip? As you note, their debit cards have always been Visa!0

Indeed, although I've just been looking and Santander have switched their Mexican and US (Santander Sovereign) cardholders to Debit MasterCard as well.
Edit: In Spain they are debit MasterCards as well.0
