Royal Mail on Strike in Peterborough
Windows
In a wildcat action most of the staff in the Werrington, Peterborough sorting office have walked out. I was not aware of this so after having no post since Thursday (4th July) I decide to ring to ask what is happening and was told I would not get any post until it was all sorted out.
So my question is this: As I am going away this Friday (12th July) two weeks ago I applied for a new European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) two weeks ago; they take 10 days normally to arrive, so I did it in plenty of time so I thought. So what if the strike does not end and I do not have my EHIC card when I travel because it is stuck somewhere at Royal Mail can I say I have one but due to Royal Mail I don't have it?
And plus I thought it was illegal to delay the post anyway, so will they get away with it without having to pay compensation.

best contact the Police then0 -
I would not consider that you did order it in plenty of time. There was never any room for error in that timescale.0

The EHIC is valid from the day you order online (per the FAQs on the website). The card itself is irrelevant (ish).
If you travel without the card, but need it, call the EHIC helpline and they will liaise with the hospital you are at and send them a certificate directly to prove you are entitled to the health care.

Agree with this. Fortunately this doesn't affect the whole of Peterborough as I recently sent some items there for a family birthday this week.0 -
This uncovers the brutal fact that the post does not move of its own accord. I doubt they are actually delaying it. They are probably sat at home planning their barbecues for this afternoon, allowing any post which has legs to go on its merry way.
