Ebay returns

Hi,

what is ebay's policy on returns? If I as a seller do not state a return policy I have the right to exercise this, don't I?

I have a buyer who has bought soemthing and after payment and delivery has now written a short email to me asking if he can return the item as it is not what he had expected it to be. There was nothing wrong with the item, and the description was clear.

I am getting sick of some buyers who are always emailing after doing a transaction and wanting money back or asking questions after the auction has finished. My policy is if you are unsure about something them question the seller, if you are still not completely satisfied then don't bid for anything! Is that too much to ask!

Any thoughts?

There is no reason to refund if you have sold the item that was desribed. So no refund is due, trading standards policy is that it is at the discretion of the seller whether they want to refund or not if the item is not defect and are perfectly entitled to say " bog off " . Buyers sometime forget this especially when they have never sold anything .

I wouldn't refund if the buyer has purely changed their mind. If you do decide to allow a refund then make sure you get the item back before you refund and deduct the post and packing that it cost you to send.

If you decide not to refund then the buyer does have the option of leaving you a negative so be warned.

Trading standards policy is that the distance selling regulations apply, if you are selling as a business.

    Otherwise caveat emptor.

I'm totally with you, on that. I sold some lights to one woman who decided not to bother testing they worked (xmas type fairy lights) before GLUING them (with a hot glue gun) onto a sheet of material  Needless to say she blew most of the bulbs, switched it on and decided I had sold her a faulty set of lights. She wanted her money back. I hesitated to mention the lights might just not be in the same state they left me in...........

Oh she also thought the fuse bulbs with the white tips had actually been painted by someone :wall:
