Having trouble with car insurance quotes

So I have been driving 3 years, no claims or problems. I had my 1 yrs NBC my first ear driving as a main driver. For the past 2 years I have been a named driver as I don't drive that much.

Now I need my own insurance. I also need to put my dad on aswell as my 19 year old brother. I can't get a good price anywhere. I need to pay monthly and can't afford more than £250.00 per month.

I'd like an insurer who would accept my almost 3 year old NBC.

I have tried every insurance company I can think of. Adrian flux came back with a great price but could not put my brother on it. He needs the car 1 day a week for work, that's it.

Can anyone please help? I can't bear the thought of filling out another pointless quote form!

Many thanks

Lydia

Your NCB will be 2 years old so still valid if you re-insure now.

I imagine the problem is not with the NCB, but with the 19 year old brother using it 1 day a week it might push the prices up. You could look and see if anyone will offer it with a tracker, or see if you can reduce the mileage or try different cover (fully comp being lower risk than 3rd party, for instance).

Have you got a local broker you can visit to discuss things over the counter?

    Lots of problems here.....

Whats NBC?...you mean NCD or NCB (no claims bonus, discount)
I assume you have another ear so that's not relevant!!!
I take it you were driving as a main driver on your parents policy, not your own? - you wouldn't of earned any NCD in your own name and is over 24 months old now any way.
So you want to add your Dad and your 19 your old brother on your policy, that shouldn't be a problem, but this will effect the price if your older than 19.

You don't have almost 3 years No Claims Discount do you, you have nil NCD.

Your best off insuring a low group car 1-3....assuming your not in a high rated area and a reasonable car then £3,000 should be achievable.

Very much doubt you will get a "good" price for your insurance. Good luck with it.

I was insured from 2010 to 2011 on my own insurance for which I earned 1 NCB. I have been on ad a named driver from 2011 to 2013 so by rights my 1 NCB is no longer valid, but some insurers will accept NCB up to 3 years old.

Thank you all for your comments,

I assume what you are saying is that you have 1 year NCB but it is almost three years old?

If so, try the co-op - they are about the only one that will accept NCB that is almost 3 years old.

The other option is to try the insurer who insures the car you are currently named on. They may offer a discount to reflect your two years as a named driver with them.

The simple fact is, the insurance is to cover all risks.

The highest risk is the 19yr old, so the premium rockets when they are added. Makes no odds if they drive it 24/7 or 1 hour.

Tell the 19yr old to get a moped.

use confused.com to make finding quotes quicker

take the 19yo off, sucks but it wil bring your premium up

if your a 'good driver', go down the blackbox route, as far as i know, with some companies, your premium wont raise during the year, it just wont drop if you drive bad, and you will still get your no claims for the year

No offence but if you are going to mock someone's typing it is a good idea to get your own house in order ;)

OP - I followed the sticky for insurance quotes on here and as suggested, the meerkats were the cheapest of the comparison sites.

As Foxy (and others) have said though, it is the 19 year old that is bumping the price up.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
