Being a friendly yet savvy bunch of people I call upon your expertise to guide me. Never been to this venue before so any help would be much appreciated. The trains sound like a nightmare and I am staying in Barry so can't walk to the gig. Any ideas for a budget car park?

Park at a station near your home and take the train. The stadium is very close to the station.0

OP has said the trains are a nightmare.
I would park in Sophia Gardens, just off Cathedral Road. It's handy. You can suss the route on Google maps, you come out at top of car park near the bridge over the Taff, turn down Westgate Street by the Angel and the Holiday Inn and there you are.
You can see the stadium anyway.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

To be fair to JP. , the OP only editted their post to add their comment about the trains after JP. had posted.0 -

Most buses stop at the bust station that's even closer to the stadium than the train station - loads of services seem to run from Barry thanks to the airport0
