House we are buying "has too much stuff to properly survey"

A homebuyer surveyor is not in a position to make such a sweeping judgement. He might see some specific issues which need addressing but otherwise he is not in a position to comment one way or the other on the installation as a whole. He also mentioned the electrics would need replacing. Question: If they are out of date do we have to replace them by law? Or can we live there for 4 years then do it?You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
gee, i was expecting to see a semi hoarded house when i looked at that link!!!
whats wrong with that?
for goodness sakes, it doesn't look out of the ordinary so i don't see why he can't do his job properly!0 -
Have to agree, looks like plenty of family houses I've viewed over the years.
Can't see why a surveyor can't carry out a more comprehensive homebuyer's report. If he is experienced in his job, he will have come across far worse than that. I reckon he looked at it on one of his lazy days & thought to himself " I just can't be bothered".
How does he know the electrics need replacing? He isn't an experienced electrician & surveyors always have a get out clause stating that they are not qualified to advise on electrics anyway. More than likely just needs consumer unit updated. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
