Buy to Let Idiots

My boyfriend has just sold his house this week.

The last weeks have been a nightmare due to the buyer having no idea how to conduct himself in business.

All started well -at the viewing the girlfriend of the buyer tried getting me on my own to sound out how desperate he was to sell . I made it clear the silly offer she mentioned wouldn't be considered and a sensible offer was made and accepted. All went well....until we approached exchange -The buyer went abroad leaving said girlfriend (who is NOT a party to the purchase) "to sign everything".

It appears he assumed she could sign -quite why the solicitor didn't get him to sign and hold the documents until exchange was never cleared up but hey. So he arrived back on the Tuesday -signed the documents and then decided that the following Tuesday was too long and insisted on completion on the Friday of the same week .....or he'd pull out. Our building society wanted four days to transfer funds so this was explained to him but no-the idiot insisted. This is a man who was telling us he was buying properties as buy to let as a business ???

Personally I'd have held the line -but boyfriend agreed to pushing the BS who eventually agreed. Obviously all plans for packing, time off , reconnections at new property etc all had to be rearranged at very short notice causing a lot of stress.

Friday morning comes completion is agreed for 2pm -At 10am this idiot is on the phone-boyfriend tells me this chap will be around shortly to be shown how the alarm works (already told all the instructions are there for it) and *to collect the keys* !!!
I say he can't do that as 1 Completion isn't til 2 and 2 Odds are we won't get rid of him whilst finishing the packing and tell BF to ring the solicitor. Turns outs Idiotchops had already called the estate agent and was told he couldn't have the keys til 2pm and not to call us.
Boyfriend rings him back and says -he needs to wait til two and Idiotchops starts screaming down the phone at him and threatening him with solicitor and legal action yadda yadda - Gets told firmly to take a hike (BF has bent over backwards until this point but ends up shouting back) -We hear no more -but it has added to the stress of getting everything done on time (remember HE was the one forcing this)

My own house is actually four doors from the property -so obviously I know all the neighbours too. After spending the weekend helping unpack and get organized I came home today -to discover from the neighbours...... No-one has even set foot in the house yet !!!!:mad:

He's lost all goodwill from all the immediate neighbours already and heaven help his tenants dealing with a man who thinks the law doesn't apply to him in matters of property and it's fine to shout and scream to get your own way.

Fortunately, not all buy-to-letters are like this moron.

But great generalisation with your title there.

He will probably be very successful as a landlord.
