JSA and Lone parent student - help please!

Hi

I wondered if any-one could help me, I'm getting a bit desperate with my JSA Claim. I'm a lone parent student and have claimed JSA for the Summer period. We are entitled to, I've checked the website/forms/ advice lines. BUT I did eight weeks ago. One claim was closed in error (they missed that I was a lone parent), and I opened a new claim (as advised by JC staff) , which still hasn't been processed after the deadline! They have even said that they didn't have paperwork- which I ended up sending twice via the job centre. So that means no money for eight weeks, and of course, being as I'm in the Summer period, my loan has paid for childcare and studies. There's none of it left, because I'm a single Mum. It's impossible to save. I've looked everywhere for work over Summer- so far, no luck. I have rung the JC time and again, every time the usual 3 hour call back which never happens. I asked to speak to a manager and that never happened either.

I don't need this. I have PTSD, and I'm hard of hearing too. I can't get ESA as I get too much student loan , apparently (Long story... I think they counted my grants for childcare in there). Please help- I actually really don't know what to do now. I've contacted the CAB via e-mail and my MP, but I've not heard back yet.

What do they expect me to live on? Fresh air? Can anyone help me with it all? I'd appreciate it. :) Thank you .

    Hi,

I've just finished my degree as a lone parent. I don't want to worry you, but I couldn't claim in the summer holidays as the April SLC payment is meant to see you over the summer. You should have received your student loan, SSG, PLA as well as your childcare grant so you should have enough to live on, combined with your CTC and your CB. I don't understand how you have nothing left? If however you feel you should be getting ESA and that you aren't because they've taken your childcare grant into account in error, this needs to be challenged rather that you just accepting it?
