Driving on the wrong side of the road - abroad

Driving on the right is generally not a problem at all, even in a right hand drive car, so long as your mind is on what you are doing. The big problem can be distraction , in situations like having stopped at a petrol station on pulling out into the road concentrating on other things (did I put card back in wallet ?, did all passengers do their belts up?, did Aunt Mabel come back after her trip to the kharzy?) At this point your reactions can revert to UK mode and you go off down the wrong side of the carriageway. Moral : "Keep your brain in gear "You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

Having owned and driven automatics for more years than I care to remember the only problem I ever experienced was mixing up the brake pedal with the nonexistent clutch pedal. As long as you remember that you don't use your left foot you shouldn't have any problems.0

Put it in drive and off you go.
Don't forget the tendency of an automatic to move forward even when in Neutral. Need to know where the handbrake is. (Perhaps this has changed, though, it's decades since I drove an automatic).
Totally agree with the automatic advice though, one less thing to worry about, especially with gears on the other side. It is very easy to drive an automatic and one less thing to worry about.0 -

& strap your left leg to your seat with cable ties.*
Otherwise you will put your foot on the brake before pulling away and/or desperately whack the foot-well with it while coming to a stop as the witchcraft takes over.
Apart from the tiny bit of brain training over the first couple of minutes; it's easy.
*in your mind's eye of course. Although who knows, you might actually want to physically do that if you're that way inclined.0
