Moisturiser for very dry skin

I've had very dry skin all my life, the type where if I don't mpostureise within 5mins of having a shower / bath I can feel my skin tightening and starting to itch.
I don't know about parabens etc but I use Vaseline Intensive Rescuse moisture locking lotion (used to use an E45 24hr one but they stopped doing it). Often places have it on 1/2 price offer when I stock up, or Savers for £2.99 - £3.99

For my face I did use Clinique Dramatically Different lotion but tbh I have found Clarins Hydraquench is much much better, they also do a cold weather / very dry skin version. It's quite pricy and recently i have been pinching my OH Palmers Coco Butter for Face and Men (he swears by Coco Butter and it does seem to do the job)
The other thing I would say is even if you do have dry skin is to exfoliate regularly. I love Soap and Glory Flake Away for the body - beware it does leave the bath a bit slippy though. For the face I use Decleor Phytopeel Natural Exfoliating Cream - Cheapsmells.com often has it at a reasonable price. And to cleanse I use Decleor Micellar Water. It's lovely stuff and my skin is much better using that compared to when I used Clinique.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Coconut oil is indeed great for many things including topical skin application, as a hair oil and also to cook with.
I quite often suffer with dry skin on my legs and coconut oil would last the longest out of all the stuff I tried, better than acqueous cream etc. brilliant stuff and edible. What more could you want?!I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

It's solid at room temp and because its edible it doesn't contain all the usual carp of other moisturisers. Asian supermarkets sell it really cheap but I think holland and barratt sell a version.
Before I was certain what was causing my 'skin rash' and dryness I was using coconut oil and it did no harm. But have to say, it's not as great for ME as the creams I am using.
That's one of the difficulties of personal recommendations tbh, we are all so different, our skin types, the demands our skin faces in our environments and routines....:)
E.g. I also tried Nivea because I had a few recent samples and I thought it was pretty innocuous. But it immediately sent my skin into a burning rage and it went like a peeling mess. Now most people will not have that reaction to nice, gentle Nivea I hope!0 -
My daughter had terrible sensitive dry skin for a while and the Bodyshop Hemp cream helped a lot.0

There's an ingredient in some Nivea products which is responsible for sending our skin into a 'burning rage'. I had this a couple of months ago and none of the docs I consulted could pinpoint the reason. Now, apparently: http://www.annmariegianni.com/ingredient-watch-list-methylisothiazolinone-the-toxic-ingredient-that-could-cause-nerve-damage?fb_action_ids=10151782065933453&fb_action_types=og.recommends&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582
I find Body Shop Vitamin E daytime and night-time cream is good for my skin. It melts in very easily, you need very little. I also use Body Shop cocoa butter body cream.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
