HSBC - conveyancing

Hi, was wondering if anyone could offer any experience. We are using a solicitor on our sale who we are pleased with. Unfortunately he is only accredited for HSBC mortgages of up to 150,000 so we have the choice of either using him and then having hsbc's solicitors verify the work, or using an HSBC solicitor for the purchase (we have to port an HSBC mortgage so have no choice of lender). Has anyone else experienced the 'checking' process? Did it hold things up? Thanks!

No experience but have you double checked how much extra you will have to pay in order for HSBC to have its own solicitor act for it?0

Yes, it's 169 plus vat so not too bad. Just worried about the timetable really.0

Realistically it is likely to delay things but nobody here can say whether that's by a day or two, or weeks.0

My practice used to be in the up to £150K category and I would tell people that they would be better off finding another larger CQS accredited solicitor to do all the work. Having another solicitor acting for a mortgage lender is usually a nightmare and best avoided. Your solicitor should have warned you about this as soon as he discovered it was an issue.RICHARD WEBSTER
