Their HB team not on duty today, just when I needed to arrange a temporary overdraft.. calling first thing tomorrow would be too late..
And here's me, thinking i was doing right thing, sortig funding in advance.
And their £6 per DAY unauth o/d charges just doesnt make it worth going over..

In fairness to the OP, RBS/NatWest are one of the only banks (if not THE only bank) to not apply approved overdraft requests the same day. Everyone else I've been with, any OD limit they've agreed has been applied instantly. Even utter berks like Alliance and Leicester (back in the day) could do this better.
On this I have to disagree with you o4u, OP did the responsible thing by attempting to discuss borrowing with the bank before doing it, but ran up against the fact that RBS Group's systems are a pile of sh*te that appear to be held together with sticky tape and Blu Tack. HSBC, Barclays and Lloyds are light years ahead.urs sinserly,

I agree, NatWest suck when it comes to applying for overdrafts. It's also a pain when abroad and your card is blocked and the fraud department are closed.0

That's seriously stupid. Why have opening hours for the department which deals with people in a variety of different time zones and who could therefore conceivably call at any hour?
NatWest are the pits.urs sinserly,

There's also other things that I don't quite understand with them.
For example, if you set up a direct debit, it's not actually shown on Internet Banking until the company has collected at least 1 payment.
I added my bank details to PayPal. After two weeks of wondering why the direct debit had not been set up, I found out it was because they hadn't requested any money yet.
Bit of a security flaw IMO, as you wouldn't notice any fraudulent direct debits until they've been debited.0 -

Anyone who uses their Natwest/RBS card abroad is seriously stupid anyway with the foreign transaction fees :P0
