    Most electrical wholesalers still have palettes of them kicking around - one nationwide outfit bought about 400,000 100w GLS (old type) just to beat the rush before they became 'outlawed'. They're still made, just called Rough Service as others have said. I was looking at some in my local ironmongers earlier and they were 99p each.

    I saw packs of incandescent light bulbs in Aldi the other day, as a regular item not one of their 'specials'.

    Why are they called 'rough service'?

    They are designed to be used in situations where they would be subject to rough treatment such as inspection lamps in workshops:

    I believe they use thicker gauge filament and better filament supports.

    Yep ALDI sell 60w/ 100w in packs of 4 - £1.49
