Why are they called 'rough service'?0

Most electrical wholesalers still have palettes of them kicking around - one nationwide outfit bought about 400,000 100w GLS (old type) just to beat the rush before they became 'outlawed'. They're still made, just called Rough Service as others have said. I was looking at some in my local ironmongers earlier and they were 99p each.0

I saw packs of incandescent light bulbs in Aldi the other day, as a regular item not one of their 'specials'.Stompa0

Led ones are good though.
Not the silly cfl ones which start off dim.
But you can get instant start daylight cfl lamps now, phillips make them and they really are brilliant in both senses of the word:T:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

They are designed to be used in situations where they would be subject to rough treatment such as inspection lamps in workshops:
I believe they use thicker gauge filament and better filament supports. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!
