They have a standard fee of 1% less any income they get from the lender. So Halifax is 0.4% of the loan, IF is 1.7% of the loan. Then they base the their fee on the difference. We only paid 1/3rd of the overall difference. I'm happy with that and will only pay it on completion.
I know I can goto a bank and get a free service but I've been there and done that before so wanted to try a different approach.
Mortgage offer came through from the Halifax on the 20th June! The surveyor was out the following Monday after the application was submitted (Friday). Regular updates from JC. Very pleased.
