Excel Parking - £100 fine and I was not there!

Hi all, I have had a letter in the post from Excel Parking saying I have to cough up £100 for parking in a private carpark somewhere. We had to google map the place as we had never heard of it! When we found out it was over 60miles away we assumed it was a scam as my car has never been out of my home town! (Use for work nothing else) but then I thought If someone has stolen my reg info? Has anyone managed to get pictures from this place of your car being 'illegally parked'? - then can find out if someone has!
Please help! Worried!

You need to ask them for images that they have used to determine its your vehicle. Don't admit you were the driver as obviously you weren't and reject all liability. It's likely they have the wrong reg number by a letter or number. If it is your plate you need to report this to the police. I do suggest you do this anyway. My neighbour had his plates used on a vehicle that stole petrol from a garage .When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

This is when the images provided will show a random part of a car (i.e. dashboard showing lack of ticket/windscreen with invoice attached) without showing the number plates0

I would write to them saying that you think they have made a mistake or, potentially, someone has cloned your number plate.
Repeat that you have never been to that particular spot and if they would send you a copy of the pictures.
I would go even further and, in the letter or call to them, tell them the make and colour of your car.
I don't think even this PPC would try to fiddle things to such an extent that they would attempt to knowingly pin a charge on the wrong person.
In addition, you need to know if there is another car running round with your number plate on it.0
